What is the J-1 Intern/Trainee Program?
The J-1 Visa is a non-immigrant cultural exchange visa. It is designed to allow foreign nationals to enter the U.S. to receive "on-the-job" training with American employers for up to 12 months.
The Role of the Sponsor vs. The Agent
In the J-1 world, there are three main players:
- GUP (The Agent): We find your job, prepare your resume, coach you for interviews.
- The Sponsor: A U.S. Department of State-authorized organization that issues your DS-2019 form.
- The Host Property: The 4 or 5-star hotel where you will actually work and train.
